We are seeking a floor manager for a soil blending, drying, and grinding operation. You will oversee a team that includes seasonal and temporary workers (mainly Spanish and English speakers), up to 25 at a time. This operation is a critical stage in the pipeline from soil sample intake to delivery of traditional soil chemistry data to our clients, therefore you will be responsible for maintaining high throughput while ensuring integrity and consistency. You will work cross functionally to meet expectations from management (process improvements, data collection and reporting) and needs from chemistry (sample plating and conveyance) within the overarching priority of worker safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in management in a high throughput professional setting, and some knowledge of traditional soil processing operations. This opportunity will provide exposure to the engineering and product teams within a high growth technology business as it scales to widespread adoption.
This is a full time position of 40 hours a week for floor management in our soil processing lab. This employee will work under the direction of the VP of Production.
Work is achieved during 8-hour work days, Monday through Friday. During peak seasons (3-4 months/year), extended, odd, and weekend hours and double or overlapping shifts may become necessary for you to work and/or coordinate.
Start Date: Immediately upon completion of pre-hire requirements.
Responsibilities
- Train temporary workers on repetitive tasks such as: blender operation, weighing soils into small containers, grind soils to a certain consistency, dry soils in industrial ovens
- Manage, schedule and coordinate teams of workers as they process soils from field-moist cores to homogenized, dried, and ground subsamples
- Maintain workplace safety, hygiene, and best practices to allow zero safety or health incidents to occur
- Maintain and troubleshoot preparation equipment
- Design and manage lab space for processing soil samples
- Maintain stock of consumables and routine lab equipment
Skills and Special Requirements
- Strong Spanish and English written and oral communication skills
- Comfort working in Excel or Google Sheets
- Strong candidate is able to handful stressful environment due to high but variable demand and dynamic daily activity without conveying stress to their reports
Required Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in management roles within a high growth organization, or demonstrated excellence in a high paced environment like manufacturing or food service

- Dress is casual and Protective Personal Equipment is supplied as well as lab coats
Compensation & Benefits
- $80,000/yr - $90,000/yr
