We're hiring a Senior Investment Associate to join the investing team at The Production Board, working closely with our General Partners in our San Francisco office.
About The Production BoardThe Production Board works to Reimagine Earth by building and investing in technology businesses across human health, food and agriculture, biomanufacturing, energy, automation, enterprise AI/ML, and consumer markets.TPB makes initial investments in businesses in the Seed and Series A stage, supporting them with follow-on capital and active operational partnership throughout their lifecycle. TPB also runs an active foundry program, building businesses with founders from their earliest stages.TPB takes a science-led and thesis-driven approach to investing, identifying emerging opportunities with the potential to transform markets and upgrade civilization by "connecting the dots" between science and engineering breakthroughs, end-markets, and talent.
About The RoleThe Senior Associate will partner closely with our General Partners at every step of the investment process, helping us identify, select and win the deals that will enable us to accomplish our mission.You'll be working with TPB's GPs as the primary analytical and executional engine behind our investing work, providing critical financial, market and operational analyses, performing technical, team and customer due diligence, and managing investment processes internally and externally.True to TPB's roots as operators and business builders, you'll also partner with our founders to help focus and accelerate their businesses from seed to growth. You'll also apply your commercial and technical eye to help identify new areas of investment and craft TPB's unique theses in those areas.TPB works widely across industries, and you'll spend your time across areas as diverse as life sciences and biotech, enterprise software, AI/LLM tools and applications, creator driven brand platforms, global food, material and energy systems, and any number of emerging crossover technologies and markets.
Your Experience
- Venture capital: You've worked in a high velocity early to mid-stage venture environment, providing outperforming investors and founders the analytical foundation for high stakes investment decisions in competitive deal processes.
- Financial analysis: You've mastered the financial tools of early to mid-stage stage venture investing, including cap table modeling, cash and financial projects, etc.
- Business and transactional analysis: You've built the analyses that make major transactions (in venture, banking, corporate M&A, BD/partnerships, etc.) work off the spreadsheet, including market mapping, comps analysis, operational models, team and technical diligence, etc.
- Transactional project management: You've been the hands-on driver of complicated, high value deal processes, working with internal and external partners to get deals done efficiently and collaboratively.
- Bay Area networks: You're steeped in Bay Area startup culture, and are active in the networks of talent, capital and technology that move the venture capital world.
- 2+ years of financial and/or analytical experience in venture capital (preferably) or banking, consulting, startup operations, etc.
- Technical training (undergraduate engineering, life sciences, quantitative, etc.) a plus
- You're highly organized and process oriented
